OLD FRIENDS AND SAN FRANCISCO
Last week we stopped in Chico, CA to visit with our old friend Will Bono. You know how it is with some people- you haven't seen them in a long time but you can pick up right where you left off and have a great time. The plan was to spend a few days in Chico then head to San Francisco for some sightseeing.
Will and his wife Carrie @ Bidwll Park in Chico.
Chico has a small downtown area with some cool deco buildings and a great farmers market. It's located in the middle of the Sacramento Valley surrounded by rice fields and almond orchards.
Will's wife Carrie raises and shows English Cocker Spaniels. They were sweet dogs and just as charming as our hosts.
But San Francisco was waiting in the wings...
We checked into our hotel just off Union Square and hoofed up Nob Hill to visit another old friend- Jake Gerber.
We should have taken the street car!!
We arrived winded but ready to explore the neighborhood with Jake. First up-lunch @ a small cafe.
Three monkeys in Chinatown.
Three monkeys on Jakes roof.
Before we left, Jake played some music for us. It was a fun afternoon and we made plans to meet up again.
Saying goodbye from the foot of Jake's stairs.
The real reason we wanted to visit San Francisco was to catch a show @ the SF JAZZ INSTITUTE- and what a show it was. The house band playing music of Miles Davis and original tunes contributed by each member. It was a HOT band!! Check them out here:

The Museum of Modern Art was also on our list. They have an interesting collection and a cool building. Our favorite show was a retrospective of west coast photographer Anthony Hernandez.
Yikes!!! More stairs!
As we left town we even caught a glimpse of the Golden Gate Bridge. I left my heart in....
