YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK
When planing our travels down the eastern Sierras we didn't think we could get to Yosemite NP. Weren't sure if the road over Tioga Pass (at almost 10,000 ft.) would be open. The week before our arrival at Mono Lake the pass was closed due to snow, but we kept an eye on the weather and made for the pass as soon as weather permitted.
With only one day to explore the park we came to the realization that one day was not enough time to explore the Yosemite Valley. That's not to say we didn't get some amazing views.
Or go on some amazing hikes.
Upper and Lower Yosemite Falls
The park is home to two giant sequoia groves, the Mariposa Grove and the Tuolumne Grove. The larger of the two groves Mariposa was closed for restoration work so Tuolumne it was.
This sequoia was dead and had been cut to allow cars to pass through, Model Ts not the cars of today.
El Capitan
Our time was short but the road through the park offered lots of turnouts for exploring.
We only got a taste of the park but enough of a taste to know we needed to come back.
