INTO THE MYSTIC
SEDONA PT.1
Sedona is a little tourist town with awesomely beautiful red rock mesas, mountains and canyons surrounding it. Oak Creek flows through the town and provides shade and shelter under mature cottonwoods and sycamores. Sedona is also known for the "psychic power vortexes" located @various spots around town. HERE IS A TIP: Thanksgiving week is VERY crowded. It is a popular family vacation spot for fall foliage in the desert of AZ.
We spent a week camped at Rancho Sedona RV park conveniently located along Oak Creek just below the "Y" and walking distance to Tlaquepacque Arts Village. We didn't do any shopping really- we were there to hike (and eat).
Dinner @Elote
Elote is an upscale modern Mexican restaurant with great food, service and ambiance. We went there twice!!!
As for the hiking....
Because it was a very busy family weekend, finding parking at any trailhead was a challenge. We got lucky a couple of days but twice we drove from trailhead to trailhead without finding a parking space.
One day we hiked to the top of Doe Mesa for some panoramic views. Another day took us along the Hurley Trail up and down mesas following Oak Creek with views of the town a bridge and creek side lunch.
At the top of Doe Mesa
Chapel of the Cross designed by Marguerite Brunswick, a student of Frank Lloyd Wright.
