NEW MEXICAN ENCHANTMENT
The story goes that when Georgia O'Keefe first visited New Mexico, she was so enchanted with the landscape that she made it her life's work to paint it. In fact she claimed the Pedernale Mountain as hers- "God said if I painted it enough, it was mine." She spent the bulk of her time in the small town of Abiquiu living at Ghost Ranch and painting the surrounding hills.
Ghost Ranch is now a retreat and conference center run by a nonprofit entity. We camped @ Ghost Ranch on our first trip to NM four years ago. Since then we have returned to hike our favorite trails. This time we visited on a beautiful spring day and did one of our favorite hikes on the ranch, the Chimney Rock Trail.
On the drive out to the ranch we stopped @ the Purple Adobe Lavender Farm for a cup of tea, a scone and some shopping.
