LOOKING FOR THE SUN
AT
MCDOWELL MOUNTAIN PARK
We had planned to move up to Prescott after our stay in Sedona. A quick look at weather report had freezing temperatures and snow rolling in. A change in plans was indicated, we needed to move south to a lower elevation. An internet search revealed one spot left in one of our favorite Arizona parks.
The reason for our repeated visits is the great mountain biking, hiking and the beautiful vistas.
Past visits have been during the spring months when the desert is green and the smell is intoxicating. This visit was much cooler, no spring green color and no intoxicating smell- but the wildlife was abundant and the park was not crowded-so it was a welcome relief from the crowds in Sedona.
Since the weather was cool we decided to take a day to visit the Heard Museum in Phoenix. We really enjoyed the southwest native jewelry, baskets and beadwork. The contemporary art was interesting too.
We went to an art fair in Tempe and bought a colorful new rug for the trailer.
